blade runner type shit

"man it looks like it hit everything but the lottery..."

March 22, 2026

recapping whtat’s been good since finishing the mind the giant void sign, but first some snaps I got while in Manhattan.

the first photo was taken on my way back from grabbing a beer with one of my oldest friends. I had a work trip requiring my presence out on the east coast. Unrelated question, don’t you just hate when your don’t pack enough layers when you’re out in a new england winter?

The second photo was taken around 6:30 in the morning on my way to the job site. The camera I took with me was a recent purchase, the Canon Powershot G10.
The G10 was a recent purchase I made when I was on another work trip last year in San Jose. I was doing research on my current powershot, the G9X. What immediately jumped out to me was the fact it still had a viewfinder. I love using 35mm because it’s so fun to look through viewfinders. sometimes it feels like im at my own private screening of a movie i’m about to direct in 1/60th of a second. Since it’s not that old, i figured it would be a fun investment that would
I’m really impressed with the image quality this camera can produce. Minimal editing for the first shot- just some alignment and small color correction. It preformed well in both of these low light scenes.

I loved pushing the colors on that second shot! I knew i had a great opportunity coming up: I spotted this scaffolding site from a few blocks away. I wasn’t in the mood to shoot prior since it was so goddam cold in the mornings (something about not enough layers for the new england winter) but when I found this composition I knew I couldn’t pass it up. I did more touching up on this photo than the first one, but mainly I was inspired by the composition.

I was thinking about how this picture looked like some sort of cave with a fire inside, and I’m all the way at the ground before dawn. I added some green to the shadows to make it a bit more earthy, and polished the orange to a glow.

anyway, here’s some more photos. Probably going to work on my next sign soon, so I’ll post about it when i’m done.

this design really reminds me of Aaron Draplin’s design work, pretty nifty….

this one was fun as well! i chose to go bw with it because I didn’t like enough of the colors in the scene, and overcast day didn’t make for much to work with, but on the flip side, this sign fucking rocks.

this whole bike was opalescent. that’ll stand out when you’re trying to remember where you locked up.

calling it for now.
